Nobody told me I'd question who I was becoming

The identity shift of this decade gets far less airtime than the symptoms — and for many women it's the biggest part of the story.

Something changes and it isn't only physical. Women describe a sharpening: less patience for performance, more interest in what they actually want, a willingness to disappoint people they've spent twenty years accommodating.

It isn't a crisis

The cultural script for a woman reassessing her life in her forties is unkind and inaccurate. In our community it reads far more like recalibration: careers redesigned, friendships upgraded, standards raised.

"I'm not losing myself. I'm losing the version of me that was managing everyone else's comfort."
